China Labor Watch (CLW) in cooperation with Green America has published a report, which reveals labour violations of an Apple supply chain in China.
The facility is Taiwanese Catcher Technology’s Suqian, China manufacturing plant. The factory produces the aluminium chassis for iPads. It also manufactures components for Dell, HP, Lenovo, HTC, and Motorola.
According to CLW, it investigated the facility sixteen months ago and privately informed Apple of its findings. Sadly, after a recent investigation the non-profit organisation reports that the situation for workers has not gotten better but worse. This is despite Apple implementing a “Supplier Code of Conduct” since 2005.
The conclusion is Apple is doing very little to ensure the safety and well being of its suppliers’ workers. Apple said that it will send a team to investigate the current findings.
Do you think Apple should do more to ensure no labour laws are violated by its suppliers? Drop a comment on our Phones LTD Facebook page.
